About the Position
As VP Engineering you will report to the VP & MD IDT and dotted line to SVP and Chief Technology Officer HID Global. You will play an integral role in setting the Business Area’s strategic direction, development and future growth. You will be responsible for defining and leading the engineering strategy and ultimately executing on the product delivery for the Identification Technologies Global Business Area. Furthermore, in this role you will identify and interpret trends in technology as well as leverage the re-use and platform strategy within IDT. The output from this will be the successful alignment of these factors into our PPI and NPI processes. Coordinating IDT engineering teams, including both technologists and developers across multiple locations, you will build and leverage our technical depth in the IDT Organization to secure and advance our position in the market. You will have Engineering Teams reporting directly to you (when assigned to several BUs) and dotted line reporting Teams when embedded into the BU (mainly serving one dedicated BU).

Job Details
• Sets department Engineering organization goals, aligns and leads resources, in partnership with the IDT BU Leaders and related Engineering teams (when applicable) to deliver products and solutions on time, on budget in accordance
with Identification Technologies Business Area business plan and strategy.
• Promotes the design and delivery of innovative solutions to meet customer requirements, keeping manufacturability aspects in mind.
• Builds relationships and motivates and develops technical teams to increase the Organizations technical capabilities.
• Strengthens teams with both technical depth and management leadership to support the business objectives.
• Supports actively the BA strategy to become a “Solution Enabler” and a “Solution Provider” by developing and delivering Services (inc. SaaS business model and cloud infrastructure).
• Manages R&D budgets for the Business Area to meet agreed targets.
• Supports the integration of new R&D teams entering from acquisitions.
• Drives re-use and economies of scale for products, technologies and platforms.
• Formulates long term objectives and standards of performance for Identification Technologies Engineering teams.
• Partners with VP and Managing Director Identification Technologies Business Area leader, VPs of IDT BUs and product marketing team to understand and plan for future product release requirements.
• Prioritizes changing demands, multi-tasks, and meets aggressive timelines in dynamic environment.
• Provides leadership, maintains visibility and accessibility, builds relationships and promotes communication across the Engineering teams. Motivates and develops Engineering staff to increase organizational capabilities.
• Ensures PDP (Product Development Process) and SAFe/Agile way of working is adopted and adhered to across the Engineering teams and the organization.
• Responsible for the design, management and implementation of the system architecture.
• Ensures execution and quality of Engineering output is high by measuring and maintaining clearly agreed KPI.
• Develops / improves tools, systems and processes to increase organizational efficiency.
• Keeps current in industry trends, ensuring the company maintains and expands its technology leadership position.

Your Qualifications/Education
• Minimum Bachelor Engineering degree, 10+ years of industry engineering experience, including people management experience.
• Significant, demonstrable knowledge of the IDT domain
• Background in the contactless and sensing industry (IoT) or comparable.
• Competent in electronic hardware and software architectural design.
• Solid financial acumen.
• Mastery in English.

Work Requirements
• Ability to travel as required, estimated at 30-40% of the time.
