The Position:

HID Global is looking for a Release and Deployment Engineer to manage the delivery of software solutions controlled by the Operations Solutions team. This is a new function in this department.
This position is for an autonomous and self-driven engineer that will be a member of a global and distributed development team which focuses on industrial solutions deployed on multiple production sites across the globe.

Some of your tasks will include:

  • Oversee overall release management and deployment of solutions developed by the team.
  • Manage release processes and deployment activities throughout all the target environments.
  • Coordinate with local manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Monitor delegated deployment activities and the overall health of the deployed solutions.
  • Set up processes, tools and communication channels to support the deployment activities.
  • Work collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and be supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments.
  • Work with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.
  • Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully.
  • Travel and fieldwork, including international travel may be required

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on deployment experience
  • Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
  • Familiar with different methods of deployment & release management
  • Familiar with Octopus deployment and release management server
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines
  • Knowledge of Jenkins and scripting languages (Cake, Python, PowerShell, …)
  • Basic skills in distributed version control systems, such as Mercurial, GitHub, and Bitbucket
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
